So when the opportunity came for me to review the Cafe Cookie collection from Byron Bay Cookie Company I jumped at it like a sugar starved ninja!!
I've never done a review before and thought I'd get a small, bitesized cookie to taste. Oh no, not from Byron Bay, I got a whacking great box with full sized cookies of each flavour ~ BTW Byron Bay Cafe Cookies are the size of wagon wheels...... happy days!
Soo...... wanna know what they are like? Well I shall tell you....
I decided to have a scoring system out of 15 ~ my bezzy mate and hubby both wanted some cookies, so I made them score too, we each had up to 5 points to give each cookie.
Dark Choc Orange Cookie (limited edditon)
This cookie smells like chocolate orange and looks yummy, but it doesn't have much of an orange flavour and the cookie was quite dry. We gave this one an 8.
Fig & Pecan Cookie (reduced fat)
Parky (my friend) hates figs and gave this one a big fat 0!! I also don't like figs but this cookie is actually very tasty, and, although a bit figgy and reduced fat, is a good cookie and scores a 7.
Strawberry & Clotted Cream Cookie with white choc chunks
I really liked this one. Strawberries, Clotted Cream (a Southwest speciality) and White Chocolate Chunks (not chips). The hubby isn't much of a white choc fan, mind you. This one scores 11.
White Choc Chunk & Cranberry Cookie
Again.... White Choc Chunks!! hip hip horrah says I! Really great cookie, the tangy cranberries make this a lovely fruity and chocolatey cookie. This on got a well deserved 14.
Dotty Cookies
I don't think there's any real need to say this one was Harvey's fave!! They are a treat for the eyes as well as the mouth ~ or as Harvey put it "Yum Yum Double-Yum!" Very chocolatey yumminess for the kids. Harvey gives this one a 15 ~ us dull adults scored it 12.
Sticky Date & Ginger with Walnut Cookie
This cookie got a rip roaring 15 out of 15!! Funnily enough I don't like dates or ginger, but this cookie does it so well that, even though I can taste both, I actually love it. I might even start using dates and ginger in my recipes! This cookie tastes like Christmas, my fave time of year, so if you're out and about from January to October and fancy a festive little something you must must must go to a coffee shop that has these cookies. I promise you'll be in a Christmas haze for at least a week :-)
White Choc Chunk & Macadamia Nut Cookie
Now this cookie is my absolute favourite, I love it! I've tried Macadamia nuts before and wasn't fussed by them, but this cookie is amazing. The nuts have the same texture as the chocolate, and I love large chunks of stuff in my cookies. Definitely a favourite, this cookie scored 14 (I think it should have been a 15)
Triple Choc Fudge Cookie
This cookie was a little dissapointing for me, I was all excited for my Triple Choc Fudge Cookie but it failed to do what it says on the tin. It tasted like a lovely, if a bit dry, chocolate cookie. Nothing special really. I had high hopes but unfortunately this cookie only scored a 9.
Milk Choc Chunk
Lovely large chocolate chunks and a good cookie base; this cookie does do what it says on the tin, and scores a 12.
Lemon & Macadamia Nut Shortbread
Yum yum double yum! I really like this shortbread, it smells like lemon but, like the choc orange cookie, it doesn't really taste much of lemon. However the Shortbread and Macadamia nuts are a real treat. I really liked it but my two taste testers weren't as fussed and it only scored 11.
Did I mention that Byron Bay Cookie Company also have a Gluten Free range? No? Well they do, and I'll let you in on a secret........ they're just as good, if not better, than the originals!!

Yes there is such a thing as a Gluten Free Dotty. Yay! I didn't get to score this one as my dippy husband gave it to Harvey when I was out. But from what I hear it was another "Yum yum double yum" situation.
Sticky Date & Ginger with Walnuts Cookie
Just that same as the original recipe, a real winner. We scored this one top marks like it cousin a 15 out of 15.
Triple Choc Fudge Cookie
Surprisingly the Gluten Free Cookie is better than the original, who'd of thunk it! Really nice cookie, great taste and texture. This one scores a very surprising 12.
White Choc Chunk & Macadamia Nut Cookie
Again this one is the same as it's original. I had no idea Gluten Free food could be so tasty, really impressed. This yummy cookie scored 14.
So there you have it, all the cookies I was sent, eaten and scored.
I have to say these really are some quality cookies, if you ever come across them, or are thinking of what to stock in your cafe, I'd say you'll be on to a winner if you plump for these beauties.
BTW all the cookies are approved by The Vegetarian Society and the gluten-free cookies are registered with Coeliac UK. BONUS! :-)
